Periodontal Therapy To Restore Oral Health

Effective gum disease treatment for a healthier life.

Periodontal Therapy to Maintain Optimal Oral Health

If you have been diagnosed with periodontal disease and have some degree of bone loss or gum recession, Dr. Ariana may need to incorporate periodontal therapy into your treatment plan. Your periodontal therapy treatment may include laser gum disease treatment and periodontal maintenance services to effectively treat the infection. We will work to prevent the infection from returning with routine visits and deep cleaning treatments as needed.

Periodontal Services We Offer

Bone Grafting

We can correct bone loss with a bone grafting procedure. Dr. Ariana will determine whether you are a good candidate for an autogenous bone graft, allograft, or xenograft. The procedure is typically performed under local anesthesia and may be necessary before we place dental implants.

Gingivectomy

A gingivectomy will remove and reshape loose gum tissue and may be necessary when a patient has severe periodontal disease that has not responded well to other treatments. This procedure is typically performed under local anesthesia.

Periodontal Maintenance

Even if you have had laser gum disease treatment, we may need to put you on a periodontal maintenance plan to prevent the infection from coming back. There is no cure for gum disease so periodontal maintenance visits may be necessary to keep the infection at bay. We may need to perform deep cleanings throughout the year and do oral checkups regularly to make sure your gums and teeth are in good health.

Ridge Augmentation

If jaw bone loss has affected the natural contours of your smile, you may be a good candidate for a Ridge Augmentation procedure. We can perform a soft tissue or hard tissue ridge augmentation procedure to recreate the jaw bone.

Ridge Preservation

If you have lost bone after losing a tooth or we need to prevent the collapse of the bone and soft tissue in the sockets, a ridge preservation procedure may be necessary to restore the bone. This is a minimally invasive procedure that can preserve your natural-looking smile for years to come.

Laser Gum Disease Treatment

Laser therapy for the treatment of periodontal disease is very effective for treating an active infection in the mouth. If you have gum disease and need immediate treatment, this minimally-invasive procedure can treat the infection while preserving healthy gum tissue. Laser gum disease treatment can also promote tissue regeneration. It is an attractive alternative to traditional gum surgery and can treat almost all of the infection in the gums in just one visit.

Scaling and Root Planing

If Dr. Ariana finds you are in the early stages of gum disease, we may need to perform a scaling and root planing treatment to reduce pocket depth of the gums. This is accomplished with an ultrasonic tools which is very effective for removing plaque and calculus around the gums and teeth. Scaling and root planing treatments include a deep cleaning session to ensure the teeth are free of bacteria.

Sinus Lift

You may need a sinus lift if you are getting dental implants but have some bone loss. This procedure moves the sinus away from the roots of the teeth so that we can place dental implants successfully.

WaterLase iPlu

The WaterLase Dental Laser is a less invasive tool used to perform a number of procedures that involve the teeth, gums, and bone tissue. We can perform a number of procedures without anesthesia with WaterLase.

Healthy gums are a critical component of great oral health.

Healthy gums can be maintained at home by brushing twice daily for two minutes each time, and always remembering to floss at least once a day. A nutritious, balanced diet is also conducive to healthy gums. Brushing and flossing gently is important, as well, as aggressive cleaning can cause the gums to pull back and recede over time.
